Maya Consuelo Sternel
Maya Consuelo Sternel is a musician, DJ, fully qualified sound engineer and the first Ableton-certified instructor of the Live software. Under the artist name Donna Maya she internationally releases records and CDs, writes film scores such as, among others, for „‚Short Sharp Shock“ (original title Kurz und Schmerzlos) by director Fatih Akin and has composed turntable concerts for chamber philharmonic and DJ. Having received her diploma as an audio engineer, she worked as engineer assistant for Unique Recording at Times Square, New York. Upon completing her Master’s Degree in Systematical Musicology and American Studies she moved to Berlin in 2009, where she founded UPSTART Electronic Music Education. She works as lecturer in music production at universities, high schools and various cultural institutions, regularly writes for „Beat“ magazine and is author of the book „Beat Programmierung“ (‘Beat Programming’, published by quickstart Verlag).
